Free MTS M2TS Converter App Reviews

I tried converting an Australian Pink Floyd bule ray 25 Gig file as a test. The conversion to mp4 became just over 4 Gigs, so the quality is really reduced it is also slightly out of sync. So, i trashed the file and this app. Its ok but, i will keep searching.

This “Free" version will only allow you to convert video into the iPad video format, if you want any other video output format then you have to buy the full $34.99 version. If I had wanted iPad video conversion I would have used Handbrake. Additionally the interface is not intuitive at all and not Mac-like, it has the feel of a convert Windows program.

Ive tried converting to a bunch of different formats at the highest quality setting, and cant find one that doesnt look like garbage. (I have a side by side comparison using Windows, which needs no conversion.) This app was a waste of time. Looks like Ill need to pay $30 to rent Adobe Premiere for a month, even though I have Final Cut.

I have tried and play around with this program a few times, and it does work great so far! Simple enough to not get too confused between all the various formats, although a mimimum knowledge or understanding of what this is all about is preferable; that is if one wants to tweak and choose the best possilbe output format in respect of the device and/or use. Cant really see anything major to mention from a negative point of view at this stage….but even if I did, I guess that such a nice and easy program coming for free does deserve a good rating; no matter what! Try it….it helped me on the spot when I had a video clip taken for my daughter that was unreadable on my Mac and TV…..and within minutes all was sorted out in a flash! A big thank you to the Developer, for a very good free utility! :-)

The program still reencodes the video clips, even though I give it the exact same video and audio parameters for output. It should just join the files and preserve the video quality, but instead you get a lower quality file.

It does what it says. Easy to use. One of the best free apps.

Works great if you have saved a video file to a HD and then need to get it in iMovie.

I needed an app that would convert .mts files to play on my Mac. Im using a Sony Cyber Shot DSC-HX9V and unfotunately Apple has not kept up to date with this file type, thus it cant be imported directly in to iMovie. The Pavtube app does the trick, and unlike some of the other free apps I tried, the quality of the video and audio is very good (Im playing it through iTunes using a .mp4 format). The conversion rate is a bit slower than other apps that I have tried, but hey, its free and Im not in a rush and am willing to wait if it means I get the quality conversion that Im looking for. A different .mts conversion app that I just uninstalled (wont name it here but it ranks high with a lot of positive comments) had poor video conversion and created blockly video when the camera was panned right or left, especially on objecs close to the camera. The Pavtube app has none of those issues and is easy to use. I saw mention of an upgrade that would go direct to iMovie, but couldnt find it in the app store. Keep up the good work!

I had 150 .MTS videos and the app converted everything without a problem. I bought several apps before trying this one and none of the paid ones delivered such quality. Thumbs up!

AVCHD video is much more grainy after conversion. All I tried was 1080p24 conversion.

the videos converts great no lose in quality just audio sync is off. they dont line up if i skip forward then it lines up but then gets off sync again. so i got to try and fix this issue now. stupid me deleted the original but how was i suppose to know but i wasnt about to check every second of every video….. sad face

How is this a free app if it watermarks everything? Am I missing something here? If its watermarked, its only a trial and not really "free". I dont see this disclosed anywhere. Ill change my rating if theres something Im missing. Please advise. Seems to work well otherwise.

Does not allow you to add custom settings but has a location for them. It will not let you encode DTS to AC3 yet has a setting for it file comes out blank!

I have a Sony NEX-5 Camera and an IMAC. I was frustrated about the fact that I could not watch MTS files on my mac (easily). With this FREE!!! app, I converted ALL my MTS files to MP4 (the H.264 HD Video) files. I didnt loose any of the quality of video or sound. I cant understand why some people are giving this App bad reviews. BTW, not watermarks, really FREE!!!

I really hate it when sodtware companies pull this crap. Apple should ban this company from App Store for doing this type of thing.

The mts conversion took hours, did not use all the cores on my computer, and then the audio and video were badly out of sync and the video looked like everyone was on the moon. Waste of time.

If anyone has worked with MTS files with only the MTS files and tried to convert them, then you know what a challange this can be. Clients give me just the MTS files on a thumbdrive and this is the best app I have found to convert the files. No need to look at ClipWrap, not a knock on that app, but this does the job and its free. Cant be beat. This app rocks. Give it a try, I use FCPX and importing the files after converting them to mp4 files with MTS converter it works flawless.
